About this event
What is a Sound Bath? A sound bath is a relaxation technique and meditative experience wherein participants 'bathe' in the sounds and vibrations produced by instruments like gongs, singing bowls, percussion, chimes, and sometimes vocals. These sessions are designed to induce deep states of relaxation and have therapeutic effects, potentially helping to alleviate stress, enhance mental clarity, and achieve emotional balance. During a sound bath, participants typically lie down on yoga mats and simply listen and absorb the resonant sounds, allowing the vibrations to soothe the mind and body. What is a Finnish Sauna Session? A Finnish sauna session involves spending time in a small room heated to high temperatures, typically between 70°C and 100°C (158°F and 212°F). The heat is traditionally generated by a wood-burning stove that heats stones, and water is periodically thrown on the hot stones to create steam and increase the humidity in the room. The purpose of a Finnish sauna is to induce sweating and promote relaxation. The heat helps to relax muscles, alleviate pain, and reduce stress. Sauna sessions often include multiple short stays inside the sauna, interspersed with cooling-off periods outside or in a shower. Finnish saunas are a significant part of Finnish culture and are known for their health benefits, which include improved circulation, detoxification through sweating, and enhanced cardiovascular health. Sauna sessions can also be a social experience, providing a place for calm and relaxed conversation. What is a Sound + Sauna event at Unwind? A 45-50 minute Sound Bath followed by a 90 Minute Guided Sauna Session at our beautiful location in Woodruff, WI. Please wear comfortable clothes, bring a yoga mat for the Sound Bath and bathing suit/towel/flip flops for the Sauna.
What to expect
The sound bath runs about 45 to 50 minutes, with quartz crystal singing bowls, Tibetan bowls, gongs, tuning forks, drums and chimes. You stay lying down and simply listen. The sauna follows with a 90-minute guided session, moving through a hot, cold, rest, repeat cycle with cold plunges and time by the fire in the backyard.
Why go
The two halves are the point. The sound bath quiets the mind, and the sauna and cold plunge bring the body along with it. Unwind's Nordic sauna and crackling bonfire sit in a backyard surrounded by Northwoods trees, so the sauna part feels outdoors rather than like a gym locker room.
