Who's playing
Alive Again is a Midwest-based tribute band that recreates the music of Chicago, the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame group known for blending rock, jazz and pop. The lineup includes musicians and vocalists, along with a three-piece horn section. Dr. Patrick Phelan founded the group.
What to expect
The show covers Chicago's decades-long career, with a narrator sharing the history of the original band and its music between songs. Hits such as "Saturday in the Park," "25 or 6 to 4" and "Hard to Say I'm Sorry" are on the program. Before the concert, Phelan leads a question-and-answer session in the school commons, which organizers say may interest area music students.
Why go
Horns are central to Chicago's sound, and the band keeps a three-piece horn section on stage to match it. The narration gives the songs a backstory for listeners who know the hits and want the context. The school auditorium has an orchestra pit and modern sound and lighting, which suits a band of this size.
