Helping Hands Day
Wednesday, November 4 at North Lakeland Discovery Center, Minocqua
About this event
Come volunteer with us as we prepare NLDC for the winter season ahead! After a busy summer, grounds work will be plenty and indoor tasks will ensure the Nature Center is ready for visitors. Please register on iVolunteer if you plan to volunteer that day, and if you plan on staying for lunch afterwards. If you're not registered in I-Volunteer, please contact Emily Koester at emily@discoverycenter.net and she can get you registered!
What to expect
The work follows the season. Grounds work is expected after a busy summer, and indoor tasks prepare the Nature Center for visitors. Lunch is provided afterward for volunteers who stay. The center sits on 66 acres along the lake, with trails and a bog boardwalk on the property.
Why go
This is a chance to see behind the scenes at a place many people know only as a trail or a visitor stop. Volunteers see how the site is kept up, from the grounds to the building. Staying for lunch makes it an easy, sociable way to spend the day with the people who run the center.
