Smokin' Meats
Tuesday, November 10 at North Lakeland Discovery Center, Minocqua
About this event
Back by popular demand, join us for Smokin’ Meats with Discovery Center's Ryan, Don, and Jenna at the North Lakeland Discovery Center, where we’ll explore the art and science of smoking and curing meats in a fun, relaxed setting. Learn traditional methods, modern techniques, and simple recipes you can try at home. No experience needed. We’ll wrap up on the porch to sample the results and enjoy some cold beverages. Come hungry, you’ll leave full! Space is limited to 20 participants, so sign up early to join us for this laid-back, flavorful experience! Registration required by 11/8/26. Tuesday, November 10th, 5:00 PM - 7:00 PM. $60/Non-Member and $48/Member. Please read our program and event registration and cancellation policy here.
What to expect
Discovery Center staff Ryan, Don and Jenna lead the session in a relaxed, low-key format. Participants learn both older curing methods and newer smoking techniques, plus simple recipes they can try at home. No experience is needed, and the group is capped at 20, so everyone gets close to the demonstrations.
Why go
The workshop is back by popular demand, and it suits anyone who wants to learn a craft they can repeat at home. North Lakeland Discovery Center is a nature education center focused on Wisconsin's Northwoods, so the class has a practical, outdoorsy feel. You leave with recipes and a taste of what you made.
