Veteran's Day Pool Tournament
Saturday, November 7 at Wurl-Fiend-Ingman VFW Post 2687, Minocqua
About this event
The Veteran's Day Pool Tournament is a team pool event hosted by Wurl-Fiend-Ingman VFW Post 2687 in Tomahawk, a short trip from Minocqua. Past editions have been co-ed doubles tournaments played across several local bars, with a large share of the money going to the Never Forgotten Honor Flight. It is a friendly way to shoot pool for a cause tied to veterans' service.
Who's playing
Teams are the field here, not a headliner. The 2025 edition drew 50 co-ed teams across 18 tables, split into North and South divisions. Tournament director Misty Bergsrud ran that event, and VFW Post 2687 and American Legion Post 93 were among the South Division venues.
What to expect
Play happens on pool tables at the bars taking part, with the VFW post as one of the host rooms. Recent tournaments have used double-elimination brackets, scotch doubles or co-ed pairs, and raffle baskets donated by local residents and businesses. The post is a hall with its own bar and kitchen on South 4th Street in Tomahawk.
Why go
The money raised has grown fast. The 2024 event collected $8,200 through entries and raffles, and the 2025 tournament brought $19,000 to the Honor Flight, with the post adding $11,000 in community donations. For a pool player in the Minocqua area, it is a team night with a clear purpose.
