Rhinelander Area Community Band Fall Concert

The Rhinelander Area Community Band is a non-auditioning group that welcomes instrumentalists from across the Northwoods. Its members range from high school students to musicians in their 80s, including full-time residents and part-time winter visitors. Marilyn Pekol directs the band, which has been playing for audiences for more than 40 years.

This is an indoor concert, and the band describes it as featuring a wide variety of music styles and genres. The concert takes place at First Congregational UCC, a church on East Larch Street whose current building dates to 1962. The setting is a church room rather than a park bandshell, so the sound carries differently than it does at the band's summer concerts.

The band usually plays outdoors at the Hodag Park amphitheater in summer, so this fall concert is a chance to hear it indoors. Community bands at this size, with players of all ages, are a good way to see how local musicians come together. It is an easy evening for music lovers in the Minocqua area.
