Thursday, November 5 at The Warehouse Community Arts Center, Minocqua
The Warehouse Community Arts Center · Eagle River
About this event
We will paint winter scenes with backlit evergreens, and also ornaments with a warm glow that are framed by greens. Beginners to Intermediate levels welcome and I hope you join us! Great for holiday cards or gifts. A full list of necessary supplies is available on our website.
Who's playing
Jeanne Wenos teaches the workshop. She is a retired college professor who divides her time between the Shenandoah Valley and the Northwoods. In Eagle River she paints with the Warehouse watercolor group, and she is a signature member of the Shenandoah Valley Watercolor Society.
What to expect
The class covers color mixing, layering and masking fluid, which lets a painter save bright highlights while the paint goes on around them. Paper is 140 lb cotton, with scrap sheets for practice. The Warehouse also hosts ongoing classes and open studio time, so the room feels like a working art space.
Why go
The subject fits the season: lit evergreens and glowing ornaments make small pieces that feel personal. The paper list calls for two 5 x 7 sheets and one 8 x 10, which suits cards and small gifts. It is a practical way to learn a few techniques that carry over to other watercolor work.
