What to expect

This is a discussion group, not a lecture. Members talk through the book together, using discussion questions the library provides for the title. The History Room seats about ten, so the talk stays close and everyone has a chance to speak.

Why go

The novel follows students at the Carlisle school in 1890, when rumors of the ghost dance reach them and each has to choose between the white man's path and their own. The school's motto and its push to erase language and customs drive the story. It is a good pick for readers who want a book that keeps them talking after the last page.
