About this event
Build a support system with people who understand. Designed for anyone who is caring for someone who has Alzheimer’s or related dementia, this support group is a safe place to find connection and understanding from others who understand. Meetings are held in the History Room on the 2nd Monday of each month. This support group is offered in partnership between the Alzheimer’s Association Wisconsin Chapter and the Aging & Disability Resource Center (ADRC) of Oneida County.
What to expect
Meetings take place in the library's History Room, a small room with tables and chairs that is normally used for study and research. The focus is on conversation and connection among caregivers rather than on a presentation. The room's size keeps the group intimate, which suits people who are still deciding how much they want to share.
Why go
Caregiving for someone with dementia can be isolating, and a regular meeting with people in the same position offers a steady place to turn. The group is backed by the Alzheimer's Association Wisconsin Chapter and the county's aging and disability resource center, two organizations focused on this kind of support. For anyone in Minocqua caring for a family member or friend, it is a low-pressure way to start.
