About this event
MWPF Volunteer Day is a work day on the trails at Minocqua Winter Park, the cross-country park on Squirrel Hill. Volunteers trim the trail system and clear the skating pond before the first snow falls. It is a hands-on morning for anyone who skis, skates or tubes there and wants to give some time back.
What to expect
Volunteers meet at the grooming shed on the inner road and spend a few hours on brush, branches and pond prep. Bring sturdy work gloves and any trail tools you have, and rubber or high-ankle boots for the Chip Wulff Memorial Pond work. The park provides water and snacks, with pizza served at noon, so the work ends with a shared meal.
Why go
Most people who use the trails never see the work that gets them ready. Most volunteer jobs at the park need little experience, and the park says they can be shaped around your strengths. It is a good way to meet other people who care about the winter scene in Minocqua.
