About this event
This theatrical stage version of "Anne of Green Gables" adapt L.M. Montgomery’s classic 1908 novel into heartwarming comedy-drama centered on a talkative, imaginative orphan sent by mistake to a farming brother and sister, from "Green Gables". This is a humerous family-friendly play set in the early 1900's, with a large cast of local characters from the LUHS Drama Club. "Anne of Green Gables" will take stage on Friday, Nov. 6 @ 7pm, Saturday, Nov. 7 @ 7pm and Sunday @ 2pm at Lakeland Union High School Auditorium. Admission: Donations encouraged and appreciated.
Who's playing
The cast comes from the Lakeland Union High School Drama Club, and a show this size gives many students a real part. The club has a track record beyond the school's own walls. Its musical in 2022 earned ten nominations for the Jerry Awards, which is a strong sign of the group's range.
What to expect
Expect a comedy-drama with a lot of humor, carried by the title character's chatter and big imagination. The farm setting and the period costumes and manners of the early 1900s give the story its shape. The tone is light and friendly, so younger viewers can follow along as easily as adults.
Why go
Montgomery's story is a familiar one, and this stage version keeps its warmth while leaning into the comedy. It makes a good family evening out. It is also a chance to see the Drama Club's work in the room where its productions are staged.
