Standard Showdown: Magic: The Gathering

Standard is built from recent sets, so the cards on the table shift as new releases come out. Matches are best-of-three, and events like this usually run three to five rounds. A special promo card goes to the winner while supplies last. It is a weekly event, so players can follow how their deck performs from one week to the next.

TalonSong opened in 2022 with the aim of being a community space as much as a shop, in the words of co-owner Evan Pfliegaer. This event gives Standard players a regular place to test a deck against real opponents instead of practicing alone. The store also sells cards, dice, RPG books and comics, so there is plenty to browse around the play.
