Friday Night Magic: Commander

TalonSong Gaming organizes the games at its own store. Experienced players there are the ones who walk newcomers through the rules and how a Commander game flows. Commander is a multiplayer format of Magic: The Gathering, so most games seat several people at one table.

The games are relaxed and social, with the pace set by the people at each table rather than by a clock. Borrowing a preconstructed deck means you can learn the format before deciding whether to build your own. The room is a working card shop, so expect tables set up for play and a crowd that knows the store well.

If you have been curious about Commander but never sat down to a game, this is a low-pressure place to start. The borrowable decks take the guesswork out of getting started. It is also a good way to get to know the downtown Minocqua game store scene from the inside.
