Mahjong at the Library
Tuesday, November 3 at Plum Lake Public Library, Minocqua
About this event
Mahjong at the Library brings the tile game to Plum Lake Public Library in Sayner, a short drive from Minocqua. The event is built around skill, strategy and a good measure of luck, the mix that has kept mahjong going for generations. Complete beginners are welcome, and so are players who want to sharpen their game.
What to expect
This is a community program in a public library, so the feel is relaxed and social rather than like a club night. The welcome covers both ends of the table, from someone who has never handled a tile to a regular who wants more practice. Expect the room to be quiet and the pace to suit a mixed group.
Why go
Plum Lake Public Library has been recognized as one of America's best public libraries, and it offers free Wi-Fi and a full shelf of books for visitors. Mahjong is a good way to spend a few hours with neighbors in a small Northwoods town. It is an easy outing for anyone curious about the game.
