Kalmar Community Center: Sheepshead / Mahjongg
Thursday, November 5 at Kalmar Community Center, Minocqua
About this event
Join us for an afternoon of fun. Players form teams to play games of Sheepshead / Mahjongg. The number of games is determined by the amount of players. Beginners and advanced players are welcome. Come as a single or a couple. This is open to the public.
What to expect
Players form their own teams, and the number of games is set by how many people show up. Sheepshead is a trick-taking card game with deep roots in Wisconsin. Mahjongg is the tile game, and the event covers both, so newer players can pick up whichever one suits them.
Why go
The Kalmar Community Center opened in 1986 to serve seniors in the Eagle River area, and a volunteer team still runs it on memberships, donations and fundraising. The center's calendar is social, with quilting, carving, Scrabble and cribbage on the schedule alongside card and tile games. Anyone can join in, which makes this an easy way to meet local players.
