ArtStart Holiday Artisan Market

Expect a gallery filled with artisan goods from the makers themselves, with a holiday drink and a bake sale to browse between purchases. Live festive music runs through the market. ArtStart occupies the historic Federal Building downtown, which volunteers turned into an arts and cultural center, so the room has the feel of an old building rather than a convention hall.

Shoppers can talk with the artists and makers behind each piece, which is hard to do at a big-box store. The market also gives a look at ArtStart's space, which is run by volunteers and hosts exhibitions ranging from contemporary art to historical collections. It is a practical stop for holiday gifts that feel personal.
