Free Mending Day at Walter E. Olson Memorial Library
Saturday, November 7 at Walter E. Olson Memorial Library, Minocqua
Walter E. Olson Memorial Library · Eagle River
About this event
Do you have a loose button or a popped seam you’re not sure how to fix? Bring your loved but worn and clean clothes to the library for FREE mending! The team of volunteer menders will hem, mend and patch items for you plus provide know-how information. Frist come first serve Contact Sara: 715-479-8070
What to expect
Bring a loose button, a popped seam or a torn hem. The volunteers work on hemming, mending and patching, and they explain the techniques as they go. The library supplies a sewing machine, needles, thread and a limited set of notions, and mending is taken first come, first served.
Why go
Mending Day is part of the library's regular calendar, held through most of the year, so it comes back often. Clothes that might otherwise end up in the bin get a second life. The library itself is worth knowing: a 2017 renovation added a wing with large windows on Main Street, a fireplace in the adult reading area and a tinker's studio.
